Planning a Visit to Rudyard Lake Steam Railway
The railway is great place for a family day out and is ideal for kids. Do bring your camera or video. Its an ideal place to visit for picnics, boating and walking as well as steam train rides. We do birthday parties for all ages and especially for children
The railway is dog friendly with water available for your Pet. Dogs travel free on the trains provided they are on a lead and accompanied by well behaved owners.
The railway starts from Rudyard Station where there is a free car park. Its on Rudyard Road, the B5331 one kilometre West from the junction of the A523 Leek to Macclesfield Trunk Road. watch out for the brown signs on the A523 which are about one kilometre North of Leek.
The post code if you have a Sat Nav. is ST13 8PF. This will take you onto Rudyard Road. The entrance to the station is next to the old railway bridge on Rudyard Road. Take the ramp up into the free car park. As you enter the car park the station is on your left.
When you arrive take seat on the train and we will collect your fare before the train goes. No prior booking is needed except for Santa Trains and birthday parties.
We are close to Alton Towers, Trentham Gardens & Biddulph Grange. The Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire borders are nearby and we are easy to get to from Macclesfield, Congleton, Knutsford, Buxton as well as Leek and Stoke on Trent.
Platform 2 our cafe at Rudyard Station is open at weekends from late March to the end of October and some midweek dates in school holidays. Indoor accommodation for picnics, colouring etc will be available later.
Our covered picnic area is now available at Rudyard Station. Also a room is available at the Lake activity centre near to the Dam Station. Telephone Ray Perry 07718 808881 or email info@rudyardlake.com for details.
