KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY VENUE - STEAM TRAINS RUDYARD LAKE RAILWAY
A great children's birthday party place on our steam trains at Rudyard Lake near Leek, Staffordshire. The birthday boy or girl can have either a return trip* or unlimited travel aboard the Birthday Train Express with all their family and friends with our Day Rover tickets. The steam train and lake makes a great place for a kids party venue, convenient for Macclesfield, Congleton, Stoke and Buxton.
Whether its just taking a trip on the steam train or a full day event we offer a great value unusual venue. The steam railway runs along the side of beautiful Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire and the trains use covered carriages.

lollipop's & balloons for all children in the party. Our party place venue is ideal for kids with great photo opportunities galore on the train and by the lake. Whether its feeding the ducks or themselves kids will have a great time.
We have successfully done children's parties for several years. There are various catering options available at the railway at Rudyard with a kids party box or bring your own food if you wish.
For example in 2010 we provided 34 cream teas for an adult birthday which was very well received.

Of course we can also provide birthday or other parties for older "children" (adults) of all ages. For any special party requirements please contact us. We need parties to be booked in advance so we can put the arrangements in place and like at least a weeks notice. If its sooner than that contact us and we will try to help.
Catering is normally provided by Platform 2 Cafe at Rudyard station from April to the end of October or you can reserve a dedicated part of the covered picnic area on payment of a fee and provide your own food. Contact us to discuss the options.
Birthday or other parties can be any day when trains run mainly from April to the end of October or on other days by arrangement. Look at the Timetable page for full details but trains run most weekends and daily in school holidays. There is no minimum number for a party but a realistic maximum of about 80 and we welcome parties of any size. We only book one birthday party per day to ensure your day is special.

20+ guests: Deduct 10% from above train fares. Lunch boxes for children are available and other catering options if booked in advance. Do ask.

The Birthday Party Express steam train needs to be booked in advance. A return journey will take about 35 minutes if you do not stop off at any of the stations but you are welcome to break your journey if you wish. You could have a picnic and then catch a later train back at no extra cost. Car Parking at Rudyard Station is free.
A non refundable fee of £25 is required for each booking. We will hold bookings made by phone or email for 7 days to allow time for submission of the booking and deposit. Our covered picnic area is available at Rudyard Station for booked birthday parties.
If a food option is taken up with us this is free or if you bring your own food a reservation charge of £30 applies. Tables will be reserved in our covered party area and arranged together for the party and tablecloth and napkins provided. A cake stand and knife is available if you want to provide a birthday cake. Most weekend dates are available from late March 2012 onwards.
The steam railway is at Rudyard between Leek, Staffordshire and Macclesfield, Cheshire one mile along the B5331 from its junction with the A523. We are close to the Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire borders and near Macclesfield, Congleton, Stoke, Buxton as well as Leek and Stoke. Check the travel links for directions.
Steam engine driver courses are a popular present for "older" children (over 12) with many booked every year. The Engine driver page has more information.
